Abstract

ABSTRAK Buah Mahkota Dewa (Phaleria macrocarpa (Scheff) Boerl.). merupakan tanaman yang banyak mengandung zat kimia alamiah dan dapat dimanfaatkan sebagai obat tradisional. Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengetahui kemampuan daya hambat ekstrak etanol buah Mahkota terhadap bakteri Streptococcus pyogenes berdasarkan variasi konsentrasi ekstraknya. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode Kirby-Bauer difusi kertas cakram (disc). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ekstrak etanol buah Mahkota Dewa mampu menjadi bakteriostatik terhadap pertumbuhan bakteri Streptococcus pyogenes pada konsentrasi yang diujikan 60%, 70%, 80%, 90% dan 100% dengan rata-rata zona hambat berturut-turut 13,5 mm; 15 mm; 15,9 mm; 16,6 mm; dan 19,5 mm berdasarkan hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa ekstrak buah mahkota dewa bersifat bakteriostatik yang dapat menghambat pertumbuhan bakteri Streptococcus pyogenes. Kata kunci: Phaleria macrocarpa, Streptococcus pyogenes, bakteriostatik ABSTRACT The fruit of the god's crown (Phaleria macrocarpa (Scheff) boerl.). is a plant that contains a lot of natural chemicals and can be used as traditional medicine. This research was conducted to determine the inhibitory ability of god’s crown fruit ethanol extract against Streptococcus pyogenes based on variations concentration of the extract. This research used the Kirby-Bauer disc diffusion method. The results showed that the ethanol extract of god’s crown fruit was able to be bacteriostatic against the growth of Streptococcus pyogenes at the tested concentrations of 60%, 70%, 80%, 90% and 100% with an average inhibition zone of 13.5 mm respectively; 15 mm; 15.9 mm; 16.6 mm; and 19.5 mm based on the results of the study it can be concluded that the extract of the crown of the gods is bacteriostatic which can inhibit the growth of Streptococcus pyogenes bacteria.
