Abstract

ABSTRAK Kulit merupakan bagian terluar dari tubuh dan pelindung utama dari radikal bebas. Body scrub merupakan salah satu kosmetik yang bisa digunakan sebagai pembawa antioksidan yang berfungsi untuk membersihkan dan menghaluskan kulit. Biji coklat (Theeobroma cacao L.) memiliki kandungan polifenol yang dapat digunakan sebagai antioksidan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui aktivitas antioksidan pada ekstrak biji coklat (Theeobroma cacao L.) dan untuk mengetahui stabilitas sediaan body scrub esktrak etanol biji coklat (Theeobroma cacao L.). Uji aktivitas antioksidan menggunakan DPPH (1,1-difenil-2-pikrihidrazil) menunjukkan bahwa ekstrak etanol biji coklat (Theeobroma cacao L.) dengan nilai IC50 23,3581 ppm. Sedangkan pada Vitamin C memiliki aktivitas antioksidan IC50 2,8539 ppm. Ekstrak etanol biji coklat dibuat dengan cara maserasi menggunakan etanol 70%. Ekstrak etanol biji coklat diformulasikan dalam variasi konsentrasi 3%, 5% dan 7%. Pengujian karakteristik sediaan body scrub meliputi uji organoleptik, homogenitas, pH, viskositas, iritasi pada kulit, hedonik menggunakan metode SPSS (Friedman Test), dan uji stabilitas menggunakan metode freez-thaw. Sediaan yang dengan konsentrasi ekstrak etnaol 7% (F3) memiliki aktivitas antioksidan dengan nilai IC50 68,0323 ppm. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini adalah ekstrak etanol biji coklat (Theeobroma cacao L.) dapat diformulasikan dalam bentuk sediaan body scrub yang stabil dan mampu memperbaiki kondisi kulit yang kasar menjadi lebih baik. ABSTRACT Skin is the outer covering of the body and main protection against free radicals. Body scrub is one of the cosmetics that can be used as an antioxidant carrier which function to clean and smooth of the skin. Cacao seeds (Theobroma cacao L.) Contains polyphenols which can be used as antioxidants. This study aims to determine the antioxidant activity of the extract cacao seeds (Theobroma cacao L.) and to determine the stability of ethanol extract body scrub preparations cacao seeds (Theobroma cacao L.). Antioxidant activity test using DPPH (1,1-diphenyl-2-picrihydrazil) showed that the ethanolic extract of cocoa seeds (Theeobroma cacao L.) with IC50 value of 23.3581 ppm. Meanwhile, Vitamin C has antioxidant activity IC50 of 2.8539 ppm. The ethanol extract of cacao seeds was made by maceration using 70% ethanol. cocoa seeds ethanol extract was formulated in various concentrations of 3%, 5% and 7%. Body scrub preparations were tested for characterization such as organoleptic, homogeneity, pH, viscosity, irritation, hedonic using SPSS method (Friedman Test), and stability test method freez-thaw. The preparation with 7% ethnaol extract concentration (F3) has antioxidant activity with an IC50 value of 68.0323 ppm. The conclusion of this study is that the ethanolic extract of cocoa seeds (Theeobroma cacao L.) can be formulated in the form of a body scrub that is stable and able to improve rough skin conditions for the better.
