Abstract

Abstrak ketombe merupakan salah satu infeksi jamur yang di sebabkan oleh Pityrosporum ovale yang meruapakan flora normal yang ada pada kulit kepala. Daun Mengkudu (Morinda citrifolia) merupakan salah satu bahan alami yang kaya akan bahan kimia, diantaranya mengandung saponin, fenol dan terponoid yang memiliki efek sebagai anti inflamasi, anti mikroba, dan anti jamur. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui efektivitas ekstrak etanol 70% daun mengkudu (Morinda citrifolia) dalam menghambat pertumbuhan jamur Pityrosporum ovale. Penelitian ini dilakukan secara eksperimental laboratorium dengan menggunakan metode sumuran. Masing-masing sampel dikultur pada media Muller Hinton Agar yang mengandung ekstrak daun mengkudu (Morinda citrifolia) dengan konsentrasi 0,11%, 0,25%, 0,43%, 0,66%, 1%, 1,5%, 2,3%, 4%, 9%, dan ekstrak murni, diinkubasi pada suhu 25° - 30° C selama 3 hari. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa ekstrak daun mengkudu (Morinda citrifolia) tidak dapat menghambat pertumbuhan Pityrosporum ovale dikarenakan konsentrasi yang digunakan terlalu rendah. Kata kunci: Pityrosporum ovale, daun mengkudu (Morinda citrifolia L), uji daya hambat Abstrack Dandruff is a fungal infection caused by Pityrosporum ovale which is a normal flora on the scalp. Noni leaf (Morinda citrifolia) is one of the natural ingredients that is rich in chemicals, including saponins, phenols and terpenoids which have anti-inflammatory, anti-microbial, and anti-fungal effects. This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of 70% ethanol extract of noni (Morinda citrifolia) leaves in inhibiting the growth of the fungus Pityrosporum ovale. This research was conducted in an experimental laboratory using the well method. Each sample was cultured on Muller Hinton Agar media containing noni leaf extract (Morinda citrifolia) with concentrations of 0.11%, 0.25%, 0.43%, 0.66%, 1%, 1.5%, 2 ,3%, 4%, 9%, and pure extract, were incubated at 25° - 30° C for 3 days. The results showed that noni leaf extract (Morinda citrifolia) could not inhibit the growth of Pityrosporum ovale because the concentration used was too low.
