Abstract
ABSTRACT Pulmonary tuberculosis remains a major health problem in Indonesia, with a high incidence rate. Lymphocytes play an important role in the immune response to Mycobacterium tuberculosis infection. This study aims to determine the description of lymphocyte cell counts in pulmonary TB patients at UPTD Puskesmas Sukaraja, Tasikmalaya Regency. This descriptive study used a sample of 30 pulmonary TB patients who met the inclusion criteria. Lymphocyte count examination was performed using an automated hematology analyzer. The results showed that 40% of patients had lymphopenia, 43.3% were within normal limits, and 16.7% had lymphocytosis. Lymphopenia was most common in the early phase of treatment (1 month: 50%), while lymphocytosis increased with treatment duration (4 months: 42.8%). Conclusion: Most patients with pulmonary TB experience lymphopenia, especially in the early phase of treatment which indicates disease activation. An increase in lymphocyte count with treatment may be an indicator of an improved immune response. This study emphasizes the importance of monitoring immunological parameters in TB management. Keywords: Pulmonary tuberculosis, lymphocyte cells, immune response.
