Abstract

ABSTRAK FORMULASI DAN EVALUASI SEDIAAN ROLL ON STICK BALM DARI KOMBINASI GINGEROL (Zingiber Officinale) DAN METIL SALISILAT SEBAGAI ANALGETIK Azkia Program Studi S1 Farmasi, Universitas Bakti Tunas Husada Abstrack Mild pain such as muscle aches and body soreness is a common complaint experienced by the community and is generally treated using topical analgesics because they are safer than systemic analgesics. Gingerol from Zingiber officinale possesses anti-inflammatory and analgesic activities, while methyl salicylate acts as a counterirritant that provides a warming sensation on the skin. This study aimed to formulate and evaluate a roll on stick balm preparation containing a combination of gingerol and methyl salicylate as a topical analgesic. The study was conducted by preparing four formulas of roll on stick balm with variations in gingerol and methyl salicylate concentrations. Evaluation of the preparations included organoleptic test, homogeneity, pH, spreadability, adhesiveness, irritation, stability, and hedonic tests. Identification of active compounds was carried out using FTIR method to confirm the functional groups of the compounds. The results showed that all formulas produced semi-solid stick balm preparations that were homogeneous, pale yellow to yellowish-white in color, and had a characteristic menthol and ginger aroma. The pH values of all formulas were within the normal skin pH range, indicating that the preparations were safe for topical use. Irritation tests demonstrated that the preparations did not cause irritation in volunteers. Stability testing indicated that the preparations remained stable during storage, while hedonic testing showed that the formula containing the combination of gingerol and methyl salicylate had the highest acceptance level among respondents. Based on the results of this study, it can be concluded that the combination of gingerol (Zingiber officinale) and methyl salicylate can be formulated into a roll on stick balm preparation that fulfills physical evaluation requirements and has the potential to be developed as a topical analgesic. Keywords: Gingerol, Methyl salicylate, Roll on stick balm, Analgesic, Zingiber officinale Abstrak Nyeri ringan seperti nyeri otot dan pegal merupakan keluhan yang sering dialami masyarakat dan umumnya ditangani menggunakan analgesik topikal karena lebih aman dibandingkan analgesik sistemik. Gingerol dari Zingiber officinale memiliki aktivitas antiinflamasi dan analgesik, sedangkan metil salisilat bekerja sebagai counterirritant yang memberikan sensasi hangat pada kulit. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memformulasikan dan mengevaluasi sediaan roll on stick balm dari kombinasi gingerol dan metil salisilat sebagai analgetik topikal. Penelitian dilakukan melalui pembuatan empat formula sediaan roll on stick balm dengan variasi konsentrasi gingerol dan metil salisilat. Evaluasi sediaan meliputi uji organoleptik, homogenitas, pH, daya sebar, daya lekat, iritasi, stabilitas, dan uji hedonik. Identifikasi bahan aktif dilakukan menggunakan metode FTIR untuk memastikan gugus fungsi senyawa. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa seluruh formula menghasilkan sediaan berbentuk padat semi solid, homogen, berwarna putih kekuningan hingga kuning pucat, dan memiliki aroma khas menthol serta jahe. Nilai pH seluruh formula berada pada rentang pH kulit sehingga aman digunakan secara topikal. Uji iritasi menunjukkan bahwa sediaan tidak menimbulkan iritasi pada sukarelawan. Hasil uji stabilitas menunjukkan sediaan stabil selama penyimpanan, sedangkan uji hedonik menunjukkan formula kombinasi gingerol dan metil salisilat memiliki tingkat penerimaan paling baik oleh responden. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa kombinasi gingerol (Zingiber officinale) dan metil salisilat dapat diformulasikan dalam bentuk roll on stick balm yang memenuhi persyaratan evaluasi fisik dan berpotensi digunakan sebagai analgetik topikal.
