Abstract

Fitriya Fauziyah Program Srudi S1 Farmasi, Universitas Bakti Tunas Husada Stevia rebaudiana Bertoni merupakan tanaman yang berpotensi sebagai bahan baku obat herbal karena mengandung senyawa bioaktif, terutama flavonoid. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengevaluasi parameter mutu simplisia dan ekstrak herba stevia serta menentukan kadar total flavonoid dan aspek keamanannya. Simplisia dikarakterisasi berdasarkan parameter spesifik dan nonspesifik sesuai Farmakope Herbal Indonesia, kemudian diekstraksi menggunakan metode refluks dengan etanol 96%. Pengujian meliputi skrining fitokimia, penetapan kadar total flavonoid menggunakan spektrofotometri UV-Vis, serta uji Angka Lempeng Total (ALT), Angka Kapang Khamir (AKK), cemaran mikroba (Escherichia coli), dan cemaran logam berat Pb. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa simplisia dan ekstrak herba stevia memenuhi sebagian besar persyaratan mutu Farmakope Herbal Indonesia, mengandung flavonoid sebagai senyawa bioaktif utama, serta memenuhi persyaratan keamanan berdasarkan hasil pengujian mikrobiologi dan cemaran logam berat. Hasil ini menunjukan bahwa herba stevia berpotensi dikembangkan sebagai bahan baku obat herbal yang bermutu dan aman. Stevia rebaudiana Bertoni is a medicinal plant with potential as a raw material for herbal medicine due to its bioactive compounds, particularly flavonoids. This study aimed to evaluate the quality parameters of Stevia rebaudiana herb simplicia and extract, as well as to determine the total flavonoid content and safety aspects. The simplicia was characterized based on specific and non-specific parameters according to the Indonesian Herbal Pharmacopoeia and extracted using the reflux method with 96% ethanol. The analyses included phytochemical screening, determination of total flavonoid content using UV-Vis spectrophotometry, Total Plate Count (TPC), Yeast and Mold Count (YMC), microbial contamination (Escherichia coli), and lead (Pb) heavy metal contamination. The results showed that the simplicia and extract of Stevia rebaudiana met most of the quality requirements of the Indonesian Herbal Pharmacopoeia, contained flavonoids as the major bioactive compounds, and complied with the safety requirements based on microbiological and heavy metal contamination tests. These findings indicate that Stevia rebaudiana has the potential to be developed as a high-quality and safe raw material for herbal medicine.
