Abstract

Rachida Khoerunnisya Program Srudi S1 Farmasi, Universitas Bakti Tunas Husada Jerwat merupakan salah satu penyakit kulit yang banyak dialami oleh remaja dan dewasa muda, dengan salah satu penyebab utamanya adalah infeksi bakteri Propionibacterium acnes. Buah belimbing wuluh (Averrhoa bilimbi L.) diketahui mengandung senyawa metabolit sekunder, seperti flavonoid, tannin, saponin, dan triterpenoid yang berpotensi sebagai antibakteri. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui aktivitas antibakteri ekstrak etanol buah belimbing wuluh terhadap Propionibacterium acnes, memformulasikan kedalam sediaan cleansing balm, serta mengevaluasi karakteristik fisik, dan aktivitas antibakteri sediaan. Ekstraksi dilakukan menggunakan metode maserasi dengan pelarut etanol 96%. Aktivitas antibakteri menggunkan metode difusi cakram dengan media Nutrient Agar (NA). Ekstrak kemudian diformulasikan kedalam sediaan cleansing balm dengan konsentrasi ekstrak 15% (F1), 20% (F2), dan 25% (F3). Evaluasi sediaan meliputi uji organoleptik, homogenitas, pH, daya sebar, daya bersih, titik leleh, stabilits, hedonik, dan aktivitas antibakteri. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa seluruh formula memenuhi persyaratan evaluasi fisik sediaan. Aktivitas antibakteri cleansing balm meningkat seiring dengan peningkatan konsentrasi ekstrak, dengan rata-rata diameter zona hambat berturut-turut sebesar 11,11 mm, 13,05 mm, 16,41 mm pada F1 (15%), F2 (20%), F3 (25%). Formulasi F3 menujukkan aktivitas antibakteri tertinggi terhadap Propionibacterium acnes dan berbeda bermakna dibandingkan formula lainnya (p<0,05). Berdasarkan hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa ekstrak etanol buah belimbing wuluh (Averrhoa bilimbi L.) dapat diformulasikan menjadi sediaan cleansing balm yang memenuhi persyaratan mutu fisik, stabil, serta berpotensi sebagai kosmetik anti-acne berbahan alam. Kata kunci: Averrhoa bilimbi L., cleansing balm, Propionibacterium acnes, aktivitas antibkateri, anti-acne Acne vulgaris is one of the most common skin diseases affecting adolescents and young adults, with Propionibacterium acnes being one of the primary causative bacteria. Bilimbi fruit (Averrhoa bilimbi L.) is known to contain secondary metabolites, including flavonoids, tannins, saponins, and triterpenoids, which exhibit potential antibacterial properties. This study aimed to evaluate the antibacterial activity of the ethanolic extract of bilimbi fruit against Propionibacterium acnes, formulate the extract into a cleansing balm, and evaluate the physicochemical characteristic and antibacterial acivity of a formulation. The extract was obtained by maceration using 96% ethanol. Antibacterial activity was determined using the disc diffusion method on Nutrient Agar (NA) medium. The extract was formulated into cleansing balm preparations containing 15% (F1), 20% (F2), 25% (F3) extract concetrations. The formulations were evaluated for organoleptic properties, homogeneity, pH, spreadability, cleansing ability, melting point, stability, hedonic acceptance, and antibacterial activity. The results showed that all formulations met the required physicochemical quality standards for semisolid preparations. The antibacterial activity of the cleansing balm increased with increasing extract concentration, producing mean inhibition zone diameters of 11,11 mm, 13.05 mm, and 16.41 mm, for F1 (15%), F2 (20%), F3 (25%), respectively. Formulation F3 exhibited the highest antibacterial activity against Propionibacterium acnes and showed a statistically significant difference compared with the other formulations (p<0.05). In conclusion, the ethanolic extract of bilimbi fruit (Averrhoa bilimbi L.) was successfully formulated into a stable cleansing balm that fulfilled the required physicochemical quality standards and demonstrated promosing potential as a natural anti-acne cosmetic product.
