Abstract

ABSTRACT Diabetes mellitus is a metabolic disorder disease characterized by increased levels of glucose in the blood that are not controlled due to a lack or decrease in insulin function. Diabetic ulcers are one of the complications of diabetes mellitus from complications of neuropathy or peripheral arterial disease. Astaxanthin and Zeaxanthin are natural carotenoids and contain powerful antioxidants. This study aims to determine the effect of the concentration of the combination of Astaxanthin with Zeaxanthin on the evaluation of the gel and to determine the effectiveness of the gel preparation on healing diabetic ulcers in rats. Testing the effectiveness of the combination of gel preparations was carried out using male wistar rats. The gel is made with three different formulas. The results of the gel effectiveness test on diabetic ulcer healing showed that all formulas had good effectiveness with the average value of formula 1 (62.67%), formula 2 (50%) and formula 3 (57.25%). The formula that has the best average value is formula 1 with a wound healing time of 9 days, followed by formulas 2 and 3 with a wound healing time of 11 days. The results show evaluation of the gel preparation showed that the three formulas met the requirements. Keyword: Diabetic ulcer, Gel, Astaxanthin, Zeaxanthin, Combination of Astaxanthin with Zeaxanthin ABSTRAK Diabetes mellitus merupakan penyakit kelainan metabolik yang ditandai dengan meningkatnya kadar glukosa dalam darah yang tidak terkontrol akibat kekurangan atau penurunan fungsi insulin. Ulkus diabetik merupakan salah satu komplikasi diabetes mellitus yang berasal dari komplikasi neuropati atau penyakit arteri perifer. Astaxanthin dan Zeaxanthin merupakan salah satu karotenoid alami serta mengandung antioksidan yang kuat. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh konsentrasi kombinasi Astaxanthin dengan Zeaxanthin terhadap evaluasi gel serta untuk mengetahui efektivitas sediaan gel terhadap penyembuhan ulkus diabetik pada tikus. Pengujian efektivitas kombinasi sediaan gel dilakukan menggunakan tikus jantan galur wistar. Gel dibuat dengan tiga formula berbeda. Hasil Uji efektivitas gel pada penyembuhan ulkus diabetik menunjukan bahwa semua formula memiliki efektivitas yang baik dengan hasil nilai rata-rata formula 1 (62,67%), formula 2 (50%) dan formula 3 (57,25%). Formula yang memiliki nilai rata-rata terbaik adalah formula 1 dengan lama penyembuhan luka selama 9 hari ,dilanjut formula 2 dan 3 dengan lama penyembuhan luka selama 11 hari. Hasil evaluasi sediaan gel menunjukan bahwa ke tiga formula tersebut memenuhi syarat. Kata Kunci: Ulkus Diabetik,Gel,Astaxanthin,Zeaxanthin,Kombinasi Astaxanthin dengan Zeaxanthin
