Abstract
Soekardjo, Tasikmalaya City xiii + 72 Pages + 13 Tables + 11 Appendices ABSTRACT Background: Anemia is a prevalent public health issue, particularly in developing countries such as Indonesia. At RSUD dr. Soekardjo in Tasikmalaya City, the number of anemia cases is relatively high, and some patients require blood transfusions as part of their treatment. Although blood transfusions are effective in increasing hemoglobin levels, they also carry potential risks, including allergic transfusion reactions that may endanger patient safety. Objective: To identify and evaluate blood transfusion reactions in anemic patients treated in the Melati 4 ward at RSUD dr. Soekardjo, Tasikmalaya City. Method: This research employed a quantitative descriptive method with a case study approach. The study involved two anemic patients and was conducted over three consecutive days. Data were collected using observation sheets. Results: After monitoring the blood transfusion reaction for 3 consecutive days, respondent 1 experienced a transfusion reaction after 4 hours of being given a blood transfusion. So that respondent 1 is included in the severe reaction category. While respondent 2 did not experience any transfusion reaction, so respondent 2 is included in category 0 (no reaction). Conclusion: Monitoring results showed that Respondent 1 experienced a severe reaction and Respondent 2 did not experience a reaction. Therefore, Respondent 1 is at risk of a recurrent allergic reaction. Suggestion: Monitoring blood transfusion reactions, especially in anemia patients, is very important to minimize the risk of allergies in patients.
