Abstract

Abstrak Kunyit (Curcuma domestica Val) merupakan tanaman obat dari family zingiberaceae yang tersebar di berbagai negara Asia salah satunya Indonesia. Kunyit memiliki banyak potensi di bidang farmakologis. Metode yang digunakan adalah pengumpulan data dari berbagai referensi kemudian di-review dan disusun dalam bentuk studi litertaur. Salah satu aktivitas farmakologis dari kunyit (Curcuma domestica Val) adalah aktivitas antiinflamasi atau anti peradangan dengan cara memblokade enzim siklooksigenase sehingga menghambat pembentukan prostaglandin dalam proses inflamasi persendian. Aktivitas tersebut dihasilkan dari senyawa aktif utama yang terkandung dalam kunyit yaitu kurkumin, minyak atsiri dan senyawa analog kurkumin Gamavuton-0 (GVT-0). Manfaat senyawa aktif kunyit tersebut berpengaruh terhadap terapi penyakit radang sendi diantaranya Osteoarthritis, Arthritis Gout dan Arthritis Rheumatoid. Khasiat kunyit sebagai obat alternatif memikili efek samping yang cenderung sedikit bagi organ hati dan ginjal bahkan tidak ada sama sekali dibanding dengan Non Steroid Anti Inflamantory Drugs (NSAID). Kata Kunci: Kunyit, Osteoarthritis, Arthritis Gout, Arthrtitis Rheumatoid Abstract Turmeric (Curcuma domestica Val) is a medicinal plant of the Zingiberaceae family which is spread in various Asian countries, one of which is Indonesia. Turmeric has a lot of potential in the pharmacological field. The method used is the collection of data from various references and then reviewed and compiled in the form of literature studies. One of the pharmacological activities of turmeric (Curcuma domestica Val) is inflammatory activity by blocking the cyclooxygenase enzyme so that it inhibits the formation of prostaglandins in the inflammatory process of joints. The activity is produced from the main active compounds contained in turmeric, namely curcumin, essential oils, and Gamavuton-0 (GVT-0) curcumin analog compound. The benefits of turmeric active compounds affect the treatment of arthritis including Osteoarthritis, gouty arthritis. The efficacy of turmeric as an alternative medicine has side effects that tend to be small for the liver and kidneys even none at all compared to Non-Steroids Anti Inflamantory Drugs (NSAIDs).
